Trent University Saddened to Learn of the Passing of Professor Emeritus David Kettler
Dr. Kettler worked at Trent for more than three decades
The University community is saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. David Kettler, professor emeritus in Political Studies.
Professor Kettler joined Trent in July 1971. Over his career at Trent Prof. Kettler was on the Julian Blackburn College Academic Advisory Board from 1976 to 1979 and served as chair of the Association of the Teaching Staff from 1979-1981. He taught until June 1990 and was bestowed the title of professor emeritus in September 2023.
In 1987, Prof. Kettler became the first recipient from the social sciences to be awarded Trent’s Distinguished Researcher Award. He was also honoured with the John Fekete Award in 2014 in recognition of his outstanding service to the Trent University Faculty Association, its members, and the academic profession.
The University extends heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of Prof. Kettler and to all who knew him at Trent.
