The Environmental Chemistry program is a sequence of courses that compose an integrated whole offered individually or jointly by the Chemistry Department and Trent School of the Environment. For information on individual courses see Calendar entries for Chemistry and for Environmental & Resource Science/Studies.
Program Choices
The Environmental Chemistry degree is a single-major degree, which may be taken as a four-year (Honours, 20 credits total) or three-year (General, 15 credits total) program.
Both Programs include many specific required courses. While this leaves less room for electives, it focuses a student’s attention on the important information and skills needed to be successful in this field. This Program requires more technical knowledge than most, knowledge of chemistry, an understanding of the operating principles of various analytical instruments, and development of skills in how to use those instruments. Courses in chemistry, math, and environmental science are all part of this degree’s curriculum.
